Yesterday I woke up at 4:30 AM and couldn’t put myself back to sleep, so I hit the gym early in the morning. Deep wide stance squats with a dumbbell as the main course, flexibility and balance as the sides. I took a carton of 6 boiled eggs into the office and ate them with toast. Then, for lunch I had a complete rotisserie chicken with a huge salad.

I went to yoga in the evening, and after that I hit the gym again. When I arrived there was a familiar face at the entrance, an employee of my former smoke club, a young man in his early twenties who had told me had a second job as a gym trainer, and here he was. “Jorge!” I exclaimed, and he responded with a blank stare, taking a few seconds to recognize me. He was with a client so our greeting was polite and discreet. He was evidently nervous.

Throughout the workout, now consisting of hip thrusts and other leg related duties (neglected through focusing on yoga), the young man proactively ignored me, as if I was going to say something that might get him into trouble. He was surely worried about the nature of his second job.

As I was leaving, I saw that he was sitting at the desk in the fishbowl office every gym has at the entrance. I waved bye and he said out loud “bye Mark” and I smiled and made a gesture as if I was zipping my mouth. He smiled back and gave me a thumbs up. We had an understanding.

I went to bed almost as soon as I arrived home, and I overheard noises coming from the street which were slightly concerning and I thought “great, it will be impossible to sleep with these noises” because they were irregular and nerve inducing, like a person rummaging and speaking to themselves occasionally. My concern had a basis but I was so tired I did not stay awake for long.

This morning I went to the gym again. I tried training legs, but I was too sore, so I focused on auxiliary stuff. I’m using all of my free time to exercise now (or even more). I’m also eating as often and as much as I can (estimating 6K calories/day).

Libido is consuming me, as usual, and is probably the source of all this physical activity.
